Four tips for a holiday without a fire

Axel Fire Safety

Hurray, vacation! You worked hard and can now release all brakes. Just forget everything and enjoy it. Rightly so! However, it is advisable to confide in the topic of fire protection on holiday, even if it is only for a short time. We would like to give you some tips. Afterwards you can enjoy your cocktails at the pool with a good feeling. Promised!

On holiday, the same precautions apply as at home: Do not let candles burn when leaving the room, use the microwave only for heating food and drinks, and keep the water away from electrical appliances.

In addition, we would like to give you some tips for a holiday without a fire:

  1. Beware of fire from crickets, campfires and cooking
Always choose a wind-free location. Never use fire accelerators to light a fire. Make sure you have a stable surface and put a bucket of sand or water ready to extinguish if necessary. Keep water away from the electric grill. Do not stack the wood around the campfire too high.
  2. Save the emergency number
In the European Union, you can reach emergency services at 112. You can reach the US emergency number at 911. Look for the emergency number before you arrive at your destination or ask for it on arrival.
  3. Locate the emergency exits
On arrival at your hotel or condominium, you should look at the evacuation plans hanging on the walls. Find out where the emergency exits are. Familiarize yourself with the escape routes and the collection points. Find out where the stairs are, as you are not allowed to use the lift in case of a fire.
  4. Keep calm
In an emergency, it is always advisable to stay calm. Notify the emergency services and other vacationers. You can try to extinguish the beginning of a fire (without smoke). When smoke arises, flee and seek a safe place as quickly as possible. Close the windows and doors behind so that the fire can’t spread so quickly.

So, be ready and just enjoy your nice holiday!
