According to a test purchase, not all fire blankets are suitable for extinguishing a burning fire. <\/span>A simple towel would be a better alternative. <\/span>However, during our training sessions we experience that fire\u00a0blankets are very suitable to extinguish a burning person. <\/span>It is important that the correct technique is used.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A test purchase was published in December 2014 with a devastating article about fire blankets. <\/span>13 of the 16 blankets did not endure the fire test with a burning fire. <\/span>With wet towels the fire could be extinguished.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, during our courses we still use (high-quality) fire blankets. <\/span>We do this because they are a very efficient way to extinguish a burning person. <\/span>The condition here is that the correct technique has to be used.<\/span><\/p>\n

You have to proceed as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Tighten the blanket so that your hands are protected from fire<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Cover the flames<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Cover the person so that there is no air under the blanket<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Rub the body from top to bottom<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    During our workshops you will have the chance to practice this technique on a fire doll. <\/span>The\u00a0participants find this always very useful and instructive.<\/span><\/p>\n
